Cathex membrane
The Cathex membrane is a microporous fabric. These microscopic gaps in the fabric are smaller than water molecules, so water cannot pass through them. At the same time, these gaps are larger than steam molecules, so sweat can easily evaporate through them. Thus, you will always stay dry and warm.
Membrane parameters: waterproof: 5,000 mm H2O/m2 breathability: 5 liters H2O/m2 per 24 hours.
Certified temperature rating according to EN 13537
TRIMM sleeping bags have a certified temperature rating based on tests conducted in an accredited testing laboratory according to the new unified European standard EN 13537. In this European standard, sleeping bags are considered dry. Moisture can significantly worsen thermal performance parameters. In wet material, heat loss is up to 24 times greater than in dry material. The insulating material can absorb moisture both from the inside through sweating and breathing and from the outside through atmospheric moisture.
EXTREME
T-ext – Extreme temperature – the lowest extreme temperature where there is a risk of health damage due to hypothermia (refers to a normal woman and normal usage conditions).
LIMIT
T-lim – Limit temperature – the lower limit at which the sleeping bag user, in a curled-up body position, is generally in thermal balance and just does not feel cold (refers to a normal man and normal usage conditions).
COMFORT
T-comf – Comfort temperature – the lower limit of the comfort range, at which the sleeping bag user, in a relaxed body position, e.g., lying on their back, is generally in thermal balance and does not feel cold (refers to a normal woman and normal usage conditions).
MAX
T-max – Maximum temperature – the upper limit of the comfort range; the temperature at which a partially uncovered sleeping bag user (normal man) does not sweat excessively (may not be specified).
What is a membrane?
A membrane is a fabric with microscopic gaps between the molecules of this fabric. These gaps allow water vapor (sweat) to be removed. At the same time, it does not allow wind and water molecules, which are larger than the micro-gaps of the membrane, to penetrate through it. Thus, you will always stay dry and warm.
What is Fabric Impermeability?
This value indicates how many millimeters of water the fabric will not let through per 1 cm² over 24 hours.
For example, an impermeability of 4,000 mm means that the fabric will not allow 4,000 mm of water to pass through in 24 hours.
What is LOFT?
LOFT is the ability of the smallest possible amount of down to fill the largest possible space.
The highest quality down achieves maximum loft. However, it takes a long time for such fine down to breathe, expand, and gain loft. Therefore, sturdier and heavier feathers are added, which may reduce the overall loft value but improve the speed at which the loft “sets” and the sleeping bag begins to function. The ratio of down to sturdier feathers is given as a percentage. For this reason, you won’t find a 100/0 ratio but rather 90/10 (90% down and 10% sturdier feathers).
Codra
An abrasion-resistant fabric similar in properties to Cordura. It is cheaper than Cordura, with slightly less resistance.
Cordura
A very strong and durable fabric made from polyamide fibers known for their tremendous strength and resistance to abrasion and other mechanical damage. The structure of the fibers and the weaving method result in Cordura products being several times more durable compared to traditional nylon. These properties are carefully monitored and controlled by DuPont, and only the highest quality materials meeting the relevant criteria can bear the Cordura® by DuPont label.
DAC Featherlite
Durable poles utilizing the DAC (Dongah Aluminum Corporation) system are rightly considered one of the best technologies in the world for tent poles. This technology is based on the interconnection of poles. The tapered end of one pole with a smaller diameter allows it to be inserted into the widened end of the next pole. Larger diameter poles with thinner walls increase the overall resistance and significantly reduce the total weight of a single pole by 12-18% depending on its length. The expanded diameter of the poles combined with the enlarged insertion point for the next pole also creates a very strong connection point between the individual parts of the poles. The overall tent construction thus becomes highly resistant to external influences while maintaining the great advantage of low weight.
Definition of Comfort and Extreme Values
Comfort temperature is the temperature value that allows a person to sleep all night in a comfortable position. The minimum limit for comfort defines the minimum temperature that allows for eight hours of sleep in a curled position without waking up. The maximum comfort temperature indicates the highest temperature at which the user can sleep without excessive sweating. It is defined with open sleeping bag zippers, uncovered arms, and an open hood. Extreme temperature is the minimum temperature at which the sleeping bag protects the user from hypothermia, allowing six hours of intermittent sleep without the internal temperature dropping to a dangerous level. When choosing a sleeping bag, we recommend considering the comfort temperatures depending on the physiological factors described above. Feelings of warmth and cold are the result of the fact that the human body generates more or less heat relative to the heat it loses through contact with the surrounding environment.

GELANOTS XP is a brand for a series of highly functional textile materials intended for sports clothing in the most demanding weather conditions. These materials can uniquely meet conflicting demands on functional clothing:
1. Sweat must be wicked away from the skin surface to avoid the feeling of dampness.
2. It is necessary to prevent sweat vapor condensation in the clothing and subsequent cooling.
3. In rain, water must not penetrate through the outer layer of clothing.
4. The material must be flexible (stretchy) to minimize movement restrictions.
Combining seemingly incompatible properties, high parameters, and user comfort makes Gelanots an ideal material for use in all outdoor activities, winter sports, running, cycling, water sports, etc.
The manufacturer guarantees a minimum breathability of 20,000 g H2O/m² in 24 hours and waterproofness of at least 20,000 mm water column H2O. These values remain almost unchanged even after years of using Gelanots clothing.
Maintenance: Gelanots does not require any special cleaning processes. It can be machine-washed with regular detergents designed for these types of materials (e.g., Nikwax). Before putting it in the washing machine, thoroughly check pockets and remove hard and sharp objects that could damage the membrane. Zip up all zippers and Velcro. • Lightweight and soft material - allows unrestricted movement.
• Strong and robust - increased abrasion resistance.
• Protects skin from aging - UVRm 30 filters (clothing protection factor).
Down
The filling of down sleeping bags consists of goose down and larger soft feathers. Down has key insulating and thermal properties. The ratio between soft feathers and goose down is expressed as a percentage and serves to identify and compare sleeping bags. For example, a 95/5 ratio means 95% down and 5% soft feathers. Another important value is the LOFT, measured by the “fill power” (FP) and expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). It indicates the down’s ability to fill a certain volume under specific weight and compression. A higher value means a higher degree of thermal insulation. For example, goose down 95/5 800 CUIN.

Polyguard 3D
The absolute world leader among insulating materials for extreme use. Its core is an endless hollow fiber with a diameter close to microfiber, whose triangular hollow is the cause of its exceptionally low weight. The fiber is coiled into loops and thermally welded at crossing points. The resulting springs create an insulating fleece with unique properties, combining all the advantages of previously developed hollow fibers and microfibers. The result is the most durable, highly durable, flexible material that remains unchanged even after long-term use, compression, and drying.
The surface of the fibers, thanks to their microscopic size and high density, retains so much air that Polyguard 3D’s insulating properties and softness are closest to down, with performance fully comparable to down.
With the technology of endless, well-welded fiber, there is no shaking down, fibers do not separate, tangle, or form lumps or thin spots even after years of use. To maintain these properties, we recommend stuffing the sleeping bag into the bag. It is undesirable to fold the sleeping bag by rolling, folding, etc.

The waterproofness of a PU coating can be as follows: 6,000 mm/cm²
This means that the fabric can withstand a water pressure of 6,000 mm on 1 cm² during 24 hours.
Washing Down Sleeping Bags
It is best to wash the sleeping bag by hand using gentle detergents, preferably from the manufacturer Nikwax - Down Wash, Sportwash, or similar. You can use a washing machine only in case of great necessity, but only at low spins and in a very large machine (for a lot of kg) and preferably small sleeping bags. Otherwise, you will destroy not only the down but also the washing machine because the sleeping bag will absorb an enormous amount of water and the motor cannot handle it. After washing, let the sleeping bag drip and dry it first lying flat, later (when it goes) hanging – always preferably in a horizontal position. When caring, of course, follow the symbols on the sleeping bags’ labels. It’s not just about the down itself, but also various inner and outer materials!
In any case, washing a sleeping bag is hard and very time-consuming work, so it really pays off to have the sleeping bag professionally cleaned, preferably by the manufacturer.
PRIMALOFT® SPORT
Uses a patented structure of ultra-fine microfibers with hollow fibers of larger diameters, achieving very specific performance characteristics. Thanks to their microscopic size, a large number of air molecules are bound to the surface of the microfibers, ensuring its thermal insulation properties even at a lower insulation layer height. Thanks to the larger diameter hollow fibers, the “loft” is maintained even after prolonged use, compression, washing, and drying. The new PrimaLoft® Sport has been completely redesigned using the new Convexion Technology to achieve greater volume and performance. The manufacturer guarantees that the water-repellent effect will not fall below 50% of the original level even after repeated washing cycles.
Thermal Coefficient R-value
The thermal coefficient of sleeping pads, also known as R-value, is an important indicator when choosing the right model of sleeping pad. This value expresses the insulating properties of the sleeping pad, so the higher the R-value, the better the sleeping pad will insulate against cold from the ground. The thermal resistance depends mainly on the thickness and the insulating material used in the sleeping pad. Usually, with a higher R-value, the weight and packed dimensions of the sleeping pad also increase. It is important to clarify where and when we will use the sleeping pad and how much we care about weight and dimensions, whether we will carry it by car or in a backpack on our back. The R-value of sleeping pads ranges from 1.0 (minimal insulation) to 9.5 (excellent insulation).
If manufacturers want to state the R-Value of sleeping pads, they must use the new unified measurement according to the ASTM F33440-18 standard. The measurement is standardized and performed by placing the tested product between two plates, one hot and the other cold, and compressing it. This process can be applied to all types of sleeping pads and allows for unified measurement across all manufacturers. The resulting values are usually in the range of R1 - 6:
• R1 - purely summer sleeping pad.
• R2 - 4 - sleeping pads suitable from spring to autumn.
• R4 - 6 - with these models, you don’t have to worry about sleeping even in winter.
• R6 and more - sleeping pads for arctic conditions and sleeping on snow.

TRIGUARD COATING
Triguard represents a polyurethane coating applied to the underside of the outer fabric material. This finish increases the fabric’s strength and resistance to abrasion and stress during use. The microporous structure of the coating, applied to densely woven material, ensures wind resistance. An essential property of the Triguard coating is its waterproofness, achieved by the size of the channels in the coating, which do not allow water molecules from external moisture (snow, rain) to penetrate. Molecules of body water vapor are smaller and can be transported through the coating to the outside environment. This property creates a pleasant body microclimate, increasing comfort during outdoor activities, nature stays, and daily wear.
Triguard Membrane
Triguard membrane repels external moisture, is impermeable, while internal moisture is transported away. Minimum guaranteed resistance to pressure is 5,000 mm H2O, and minimum breathability is 5,000 g H2O/m² in 24 hours.
TRIGUARD 3 L MEMBRANE EXTREME
Triguard 3 L Membrane Extreme represents technology based on creating a three-layer material with excellent properties. The membrane is laminated directly onto the outer fabric and then equipped with a protective textile layer underneath to guard against abrasion and damage. The resulting material consists of three layers: the outer fabric, the membrane, and the protective textile layer. This technology ensures reliable waterproofness and excellent breathability of body water vapor. It provides perfect protection against adverse weather and maintains a stable microclimate on the body surface, both at rest and during intense physical activity. The material is intended for garments in extreme conditions. /Water resistance: 20,000 mm H2O, Breathability: 20,000 g H2O/m² in 24 hours.
TRIGUARD 2.5 L MEMBRANE
Triguard 2.5L membrane represents technology based on creating a 2.5-layer material with excellent properties. The membrane is laminated directly onto the outer fabric and then printed with a protective layer underneath to protect against abrasion and damage. The resulting material consists of 2.5 layers: the outer fabric, the membrane, and the print. This technology ensures reliable waterproofness and excellent breathability of body water vapor. The materials are soft, highly breathable, and feature excellent water resistance. They reliably protect against wind, permanently repel water, are lightweight, and easily packable. Their properties are suitable for all seasons for all kinds of outdoor activities.

It combines traditional Triquard membrane with outer lightweight technical materials and an inner thermal layer of lightweight knitwear. Triguard Soft Shell is windproof, characterized by its high water-repellency, excellent mechanical durability, and elasticity, providing optimal freedom of movement. Clothing made from this material is lightweight and breathable, ensuring maximum comfort in cold and windy weather. It retains heat twice as well as traditional fleece and quickly wicks body moisture away.
TRIGUARD WINDSHIELD
Triquard Wind Shield is a lightweight membrane material composed of three firmly laminated layers. The outer layer is made of light elastic polyester knit, the middle layer is the Triquard membrane, and the inner layer is a light mesh lining. The entire material excels in its wind resistance, waterproofness, and high breathability. These properties protect your body from heat loss caused by wind, rain, and subsequent cooling. The membrane also allows body vapor to pass freely, regulating your body’s internal temperature during physical exertion, preventing overheating. Triquard Wind Shield materials maintain an optimal microclimate for the body. Garments made from these materials are ideal for active sports and movement, providing comfort and lightness.
TRIGUARD BI-STRETCH
Triquard Bi-stretch is an elastic, highly breathable, wind-resistant, and water-repellent material that is lightweight and soft, providing a pleasant wearing sensation. It is a new generation of technical outdoor clothing for any weather, characterized by increased breathability, abrasion resistance, and elasticity. Wind resistance is dimensioned at 75%, with the remaining 25% allowed to circulate in the material, promoting moisture wicking and significantly reducing the risk of heat retention. The materials are permanently impregnated, ensuring excellent protection against rain and wind. Additionally, they consist of 5% spandex (elastane), allowing mechanical elasticity optimal for freedom of movement.
